Our commitment
Massachusetts Vest-A-Dog is committed to making this website usable by as many people as possible, including visitors who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, or other assistive technology. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA as our target standard, and we treat accessibility as ongoing work rather than a one-time project.
Measures in place on this site
- Semantic headings and page landmarks so content can be navigated by structure.
- Descriptive alternative text on meaningful images, and empty alt text on purely decorative ones.
- Navigation, buttons, and links that can be reached and operated with a keyboard.
- Visible focus indicators so keyboard users can see where they are.
- Color combinations chosen for text contrast, and information that is not conveyed by color alone.
- Accessible names on icon-only controls, such as the cart and menu buttons.
- Responsive layout with readable text and adequate tap targets on phones and tablets.
Known limitations
Parts of this site rely on services operated by others — our Shopify store and checkout, Tally forms for vest requests, grant applications and volunteer sign-ups, PayPal donation pages, and third-party event registration sites. We do not control the accessibility of those services. If one of them creates a barrier for you, contact us and we will help you complete the task another way, including by phone arrangement, email, or paper form.
Some historical photographs and scanned materials, such as calendar artwork and event flyers, may contain text within the image. We are working to describe these in surrounding page text.
Feedback and alternate formats
If you encounter an accessibility barrier, or need information from this site in an alternate format, email info@mavestadog.org with the page address and a short description of the problem. We are an all-volunteer organization and will respond as promptly as we can, and we will provide the information you need in another format on request.
